Social-Health Care Assistance
The “Prof. Gino Cucurachi” Residential Health Care Facility is municipally owned, built in 2006, and managed by Athena S.r.l., a company active in the socio-health services sector. The management goal is to become a reference point in both public and private sectors by offering innovative, advanced solutions in socio-health care.
The Residence operates with specialized units and provides services for:
- elderly people over age 64 with severe psycho-physical deficits
- people with dementia who do not require complex medical care but do need a high level of personal assistance and integrated socio-rehabilitation care
The Residential Healthcare Facility is located in Calimera, at 25 Via Salvo d’Acquisto, in a central area, a short distance from Piazza del Sole and the Church of San Brizio.
The building, designed according to the most modern architectural standards in the healthcare sector, is arranged over three floors and is completely free of architectural barriers.
- Ground floor: includes the spacious entrance hall, general services, common areas intended for recreational and institutional activities, as well as the Chapel, where Holy Mass is celebrated.
- First and second floors: house single and double rooms, all equipped with private bathrooms designed for non-self-sufficient persons, a television, hot and cold air conditioning, and state-of-the-art four-section adjustable-height beds. Each room is also equipped with an emergency call system directly connected to the nursing station.
The facility is equipped with:
- Assisted bathroom with a bathtub for the hygiene of fully non-self-sufficient guests
- Elevator and stretcher lift, ensuring maximum accessibility and safety during transfers
- Devices and equipment compliant with current regulations, safeguarding the health and well-being of the residents
The RSA is designed to provide a safe and functional environment, ensuring its residents a qualified care and assistance pathway aimed at maintaining residual abilities and encouraging active participation in community life.

Our expertise
at your service
Within the facility, the Administrative Director and the Medical Director work in close collaboration.
In accordance with their respective areas of responsibility, they jointly assume overall responsibility for the facility and provide the main guidelines for the organization of healthcare and social assistance services.
Medical care
Residents receive care from general practitioners and, on scheduled days, from specialist physicians and the Medical Director.
The service ensures continuity of care, monitoring, and targeted interventions based on individual clinical needs. The goal is to provide reliable and easily accessible medical support throughout the entire stay, with careful attention to the daily management of health conditions.
Nursing care
Nursing care is provided 24 hours a day. Nurses monitor clinical parameters, manage therapies and dressings, and ensure a constant professional presence.
The service works in close coordination with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and consistent care tailored to each resident’s needs.
Social and Healthcare Assistant Support
Social and healthcare assistants provide 24-hour coverage and support residents in all daily activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, assisted bathing, continence care, assistance during meals, and help with mobility.
Their work ensures continuity of care and attentive support, fostering a safe and protected environment.
Social services
The social services department supports residents from admission to discharge, coordinating with local health authorities and community-based services. It manages administrative procedures, provides support to families, and plans the overall care pathway.
The aim is to make admission and the stay as simple, clear, and sustainable as possible, while promoting smooth communication between the facility and external services.
Rehabilitation Services
Rehabilitation activities are integrated throughout the day, including mobilization, personal hygiene care, assistance with meals, physical therapy, and socialization.
The gym is open Monday to Saturday, offering both individual and group sessions.
The service addresses neurological and orthopedic conditions and prevents pressure injuries through proper positioning and appropriate aids, following a comprehensive approach shared with the care team.
Psychological Support
The psychologist assists residents upon admission, contributes to the Individual Care Plan, and provides dedicated consultations for both residents and their families.
They conduct psycho-cognitive assessments and offer individual or group stimulation programs. Their work emphasizes the person’s strengths and supports caregivers, promoting appropriate emotional well-being.
Recreational Activities and Occupational Therapy
Educators organize daily activities to keep cognitive, motor, and social skills active.
The programs include music therapy, psychomotor exercises, creative workshops, and stimulation activities.
Activities are offered both individually and in groups, adapted to each resident’s abilities, to promote social interaction and participation.
Catering Services
The in-house kitchen prepares meals according to weekly menus developed in collaboration with the dietitian and the Local Health Authority (SIAN) of Lecce.
Menu options vary seasonally and can be customized.
Menus are available at reception, and beverage and snack dispensers are located next to the dining room.
The goal is to provide balanced and safe meals.
Housekeeping
Daily cleaning includes sanitizing spaces, making beds, changing bedroom, bathroom, and table linens, and tidying wardrobes.
This consistent attention ensures clean and orderly environments, contributing to overall well-being and maintaining high hygiene standards.
Laundry Services
The on-site laundry handles washing and ironing of personal clothing. Reception provides all necessary information.
It is recommended to label garments and avoid overly delicate items to ensure the service is safe and efficient.
This allows residents to always have clean and well-organized clothing available.
Hairdresser, Beauty, and Podiatry Services
Hairdressing, beauty treatments, and podiatry services are available upon request.
Appointments can be made at reception, and the cost is borne by the resident.
This additional service contributes to personal well-being and helps residents maintain self-care directly within the facility.
